Software Engineer (Streaming Platform)

Location: Toronto, with three days per week in the office

Base salary: $163,000–$200,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate Streaming Platform components, including Kafka, streaming runtime services, high-level APIs, and developer-facing abstractions.
• Implement resilient, high-throughput stream processing systems for unbounded datasets with strong delivery, checkpointing, and watermarking guarantees.
• Build scalable automation and control-plane systems for Kafka fleet management.
• Partner with product engineers to improve the reliability and consistency of ingestion pipelines.
• Improve observability, monitoring, and failover for mission-critical real-time systems.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of software engineering experience in distributed systems, data infrastructure, or real-time streaming.
• Proficiency in Python, Rust, Go, Java, or a similar programming language.
• Experience building and operating systems in cloud environments such as Kubernetes, AWS, or GCP.
• Interest in distributed systems, reliability, performance, and developer-focused infrastructure abstractions.
• Availability to work from the Toronto office three days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka, Flink, Spark Streaming, or similar streaming technologies.
