Senior Payroll Specialist (EdTech)

Location: Hybrid in Tribeca, New York; remote on Mondays and Fridays, in-office Tuesday through Thursday

Salary: $115,000–$130,000 base salary per year, plus equity grant

What you will do

• Own and run end-to-end payroll for all employees and faculty across multiple states.
• Manage Rippling as the primary payroll and HRIS system owner, improving workflows, reporting, and data accuracy.
• Administer health, dental, vision, 401(k), and related benefits while coordinating with brokers and vendors.
• Own annual Form 1098-T reporting through Sovos, including data validation, reconciliation, filing, distribution, and corrections.
• Manage state income tax filings through Avalara, including filing calendars, payments, notices, and reconciliations.
• Manage state unemployment accounts, quarterly wage reporting, filings, payments, and agency correspondence.

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on payroll experience with direct ownership of end-to-end payroll processing.
• Experience managing payroll systems; Rippling experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience administering employee benefits and working with brokers and vendors.
• Knowledge of multi-state payroll compliance, with New York experience strongly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, operational rigor, and ability to work independently.
• Must already be authorized to work in the United States without requiring new H-1B sponsorship.

• Experience supporting payroll during company growth, system changes, PEO transitions, or migrations.
• Experience partnering closely with Finance teams.
