Senior DBA - PostgreSQL & AWS RDS - Advanced English

Location: Remote in Colombia; candidates must be legally allowed to work in Colombia

What you will do

• Deploy, operate, and maintain customer-hosted databases and AWS RDS services.
• Monitor database health, availability, logs, alerts, server performance, and batch jobs using AWS CloudWatch and Performance Insights.
• Configure backups, maintenance jobs, restores, snapshots, patching, upgrades, and database capacity and performance improvements.
• Investigate and resolve operational issues including batch failures, network problems, data-feed errors, locking, corruption, and performance incidents.
• Prepare, test, and execute T-SQL and PowerShell scripts and compare RDS configuration with Terraform code.
• Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing while providing 24x7 production support and participating in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 6–10 years of experience as a DBA, including at least 6 years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience with multiple PostgreSQL versions is mandatory.
• Hands-on AWS Cloud and AWS RDS experience.
• Basic coding skills in PowerShell, Python, and Terraform.
• Knowledge of AWS automated backups, historical backup timing, and ad hoc snapshots.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or information technology, plus understanding of ITIL practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Aurora, or MySQL.
• Knowledge of storage, backup infrastructure, operating systems, automation tools, cloud solutions, or additional database technologies.
