Database Admin (SQL Server)

Location: Bratislava, Slovakia; hybrid with three days in the office and two days working from home

Salary: €26,184.48–€41,895.17 per year, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Install, configure, and maintain relational database environments according to industry best practices and organizational standards.
• Optimize SQL Server performance through tuning, indexing, and query optimization, while managing backup and recovery strategies.
• Implement database security controls covering access management, encryption, auditing, data governance, and compliance.
• Design scalable, high-performance database solutions in collaboration with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues, support deployments, and participate in incident response and root cause analysis.
• Drive automation of database administration and operational tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, and other tools, with participation in on-call rotations.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA and/or Developer in enterprise environments.
• Advanced T-SQL skills, including complex query development, performance tuning, and indexing strategies.
• Strong understanding of SQL Server architecture, internals, and high-availability solutions such as AlwaysOn Availability Groups, clustering, and replication.
• Strong PowerShell scripting skills for automation, monitoring, and administrative optimization.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement with three days per week in the Bratislava office.

Nice to have

• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services and SQL Server Integration Services.
• Experience with Ansible, Terraform, or Python for operational automation.
• Exposure to Microsoft Azure or another major cloud platform.
• Familiarity with Datadog, SolarWinds, or equivalent monitoring and observability tools.
