Senior MySQL Database Administrator (MySQL)

What you will do

• Manage Percona Server for MySQL across production, staging, and development environments, including multi-terabyte instances.
• Design high-availability database infrastructure with ProxySQL, GitHub Orchestrator, automated failover, load balancing, query routing, and connection pooling.
• Build backup, replication, disaster recovery, and point-in-time recovery procedures using XtraBackup and binary logs.
• Analyze and optimize SQL queries, InnoDB configuration, execution plans, indexes, and database workloads.
• Operate multi-region, multi-cloud database deployments across Google Cloud and AWS, including secondary database engines such as PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Aurora, RDS, Cloud SQL, and SingleStore.
• Develop infrastructure automation, monitoring, operational runbooks, security controls, capacity plans, upgrade strategies, and mentor junior DBAs and engineers.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a production Database Administrator and 5+ years working with MySQL or Percona Server, Cloud SQL, or AWS RDS.
• Hands-on experience with ProxySQL, GitHub Orchestrator, Percona XtraBackup, replication, failover, and point-in-time recovery.
• Strong Linux or Unix administration, performance tuning, shell or Perl scripting, and Python or similar automation experience.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and database security, including encryption, access control, authentication, authorization, and audit logging.
• Knowledge of Google Cloud, AWS, Terraform, Puppet, Git/GitHub, Percona Toolkit, and database monitoring practices.
• Ability to lead incident response and on-call operations, document technical decisions, collaborate with engineering teams, and mentor other DBAs or engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with ClickHouse, MongoDB, SingleStore, Debezium, Kafka, or other analytical and streaming technologies.
• Exposure to MySQL kernel source code or internal mechanisms.
• Relevant bachelor's degree or professional certifications in MySQL, Percona, or AWS databases.
