Manager, Embedded Platform Engineering (Automotive)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States; based at the hirify.global corporate headquarters with 4–5 days per week in the office. Regular in-person meetings, events, and occasional business travel are required.

Salary: $160,000–$192,500 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and grow the Embedded Platform Engineering team while setting technical direction, standards, priorities, and operating models.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to drive adoption of shared platform capabilities, golden paths, reusable patterns, and self-service delivery.
• Improve developer experience across provisioning, builds, deployments, observability, onboarding, testing, and production operations.
• Guide AWS cloud-native architecture, CI/CD and GitOps practices using GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Kargo, Terraform, Crossplane, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Establish reliability practices based on SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, observability, incident response, and production-readiness standards.
• Influence engineering leaders, architects, security, infrastructure, operations, and product stakeholders while translating platform feedback into roadmap improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineers in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Cloud Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong experience with AWS, cloud-native architecture, CI/CD, GitOps, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and production platform operations.
• Hands-on experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions; experience with ArgoCD and Crossplane, with Kargo preferred.
• Knowledge of observability, telemetry, logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, security, identity, secrets management, policy enforcement, and governance.
• Strong understanding of SLIs, SLOs, service-level agreements, error budgets, incident response, resilience, and operational risk.

Nice to have

• Experience leading embedded, enablement, consulting, or platform-adoption engineering teams.
• Experience building internal developer platforms, service templates, golden paths, paved roads, or self-service capabilities.
• Experience with Backstage or another internal developer portal.
• Experience with software-supply-chain security, cloud-native security, platform metrics, or AI-assisted software delivery tools.
