VP - Business Control Unit, Issues & Events (Financial Services)

Base pay: $130,000–$180,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Lead line-of-business governance for business issues and operational risk events across CIB US.
• Enforce quality standards for issue statements, root-cause analyses, impact assessments, remediation plans, milestones, closure evidence, and sustainability validation.
• Challenge business owners and support CIB Business Control Officers, escalating overdue, high-risk, or inadequately remediated items to senior management and governance forums.
• Ensure operational risk events are identified, classified, documented, assessed, and escalated promptly, including financial, client, regulatory, and reputational impacts.
• Monitor issue and event portfolios, identify recurring themes and risk concentrations, and sponsor preventative control enhancements.
• Produce executive MIS and committee reporting and partner with Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit, the Second Line of Defense, and business stakeholders on inquiries, assurance reviews, and remediation commitments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Accounting, Business, Statistics, Risk Management, Information Systems, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• 9 or more years of relevant experience in financial services, business controls, operational risk, audit, compliance, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated leadership of complex issues, operational risk events, remediation programs, or regulatory commitments across multiple business lines.
• Ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders and drive timely decisions without direct authority.
• Strong knowledge of First Line of Defense responsibilities, enterprise risk frameworks, internal controls, and regulatory expectations.
• Experience producing executive- and committee-level risk reporting and presenting complex matters clearly.
• Legal authorization to work full-time in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Accounting, Business, Statistics, Risk Management, Information Systems, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Relevant risk, audit, or compliance certification, including risk certification.
• People leadership, coaching, or workstream leadership experience.
• Established work history or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military service, or education.
