Safety Control Systems Engineer (Automotive Manufacturing)

Location: Liberty, North Carolina, United States; onsite work in large industrial facilities

What you will do

• Develop project plans, schedules, milestones, deliverables, concerns, and key performance indicators.
• Audit Safety Control Systems for compliance with ISO 13849, ANSI B11, and related standards.
• Identify non-conformities and design and verify countermeasures to achieve target control categories and performance levels.
• Audit design modifications, perform hands-on troubleshooting, and support implementation.
• Coordinate cross-functional communication, manage third-party consultants by milestones, and report project status to stakeholders.
• Mentor and provide technical coaching to the Control Reliability team.

Requirements

• Functional Safety Certification, such as TÜV Functional Safety Engineer certification or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of functional safety engineering experience in automotive, manufacturing, industrial automation, machinery, aerospace and defense, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or a similar sector.
• Technical Associate’s Degree or higher in a related discipline.
• In-depth knowledge of ISO 13849-1, ANSI B11, Safety PLC programming, PLC/SPLC communication protocols, and system integration.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs and PivotTables, and PowerPoint.
• Must have the right to work in the United States without current or future hirify.global immigration sponsorship or work authorization support.

Nice to have

• Experience with risk assessment tools, FMEA, and FMEDA methodologies.
• Experience with Safety PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley GuardLogix, Omron Sysmac Safety, Keyence GC Configurator, Toyopuc PCWin Safe, or Siemens TIA Portal / Step 7 Safety.
