Research Specialist (Cloud Infrastructure, AI)

What you will do

• Contribute to existing research projects and identify new approaches to cloud infrastructure challenges.
• Carry out hands-on, lab-based evaluations and develop innovative infrastructure approaches.
• Form hypotheses, build proofs of concept, and test proposed technologies in practice.
• Investigate how applications, services, telecoms workloads, and AI workloads run on compute infrastructure.
• Improve infrastructure performance, power efficiency, security, and resilience.
• Assess the business benefits of technical research findings.

Requirements

• Knowledge of telco cloud and telecoms workloads running on compute-based infrastructure.
• Experience with Network Functions Virtualisation, software-defined networking, Kubernetes, containers, and CI/CD.
• Understanding of data centre design and compute, storage, and networking hardware.
• Practical Linux skills and a strong understanding of networking fundamentals.
• Ability to take ownership of experiments, try new approaches, and progress work with limited direction.

Nice to have

• Programming skills that complement infrastructure expertise.
• Research experience or experience developing and testing new approaches in cloud or networking roles.
• Understanding of AI infrastructure requirements, GPUs, and accelerated compute.
• Experience with technical communication, patenting, publications, or conference presentations.
• Knowledge of secure computing, attestation, cyber-resilience, memory safety, and analytical business-case development.
