Senior Software Engineer, DevOps (AWS/Kubernetes)

Location: Remote in Washington (WA); applicants must be authorized to work permanently in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $135,557–$203,335 USD annually

What you will do

• Build and operate a hybrid Kubernetes platform spanning Amazon EKS and self-managed clusters in Slate facilities.
• Develop multi-account AWS infrastructure with Python and AWS CDK across networking, IAM, compute, containers, databases, and storage.
• Partner with digital, data engineering, manufacturing, and enterprise teams to deliver environments, access, pipelines, and production support.
• Build CI/CD workflows, reusable GitHub Actions, container build and release patterns, and GitOps deployments with Helm and related tooling.
• Participate in on-call rotations, respond to incidents, write postmortems, and improve monitoring, dashboards, and alerts.
• Create self-service automation, runbooks, design notes, and documentation that reduce operational toil.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in DevOps, site reliability, platform, or infrastructure engineering with production ownership.
• Strong production AWS experience, including IAM, VPC, EC2, EKS or ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3, Route 53, and CloudWatch.
• Production Kubernetes operations experience, including workload, networking, storage troubleshooting, and cluster upgrades.
• Strong Python skills and required infrastructure-as-code experience; AWS CDK is preferred. Ability to make targeted changes in TypeScript.
• Experience with CI/CD, container security, Helm, GitOps, observability, Linux administration, TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, TLS, and VPN connectivity.
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States is required.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting data platforms, databases, or data pipelines.
• Exposure to manufacturing, industrial, or OT environments.
• Familiarity with VMware or other enterprise virtualization platforms.
• Experience with policy as code, secrets management, or software supply chain security.
