Software Engineer II, Backend (Batch Developer Experience)

Location: Remote Canada; candidates must reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan.

Base pay per year: $133,000–$183,000.

What you will do

• Break down larger engineering projects into phased deliverables and coordinate implementation with teammates.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics on ideation, technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
• Build tools and systems that streamline batch development and testing and improve workload reliability.
• Create and monitor operational metrics, escalate issues, and support on-call and maintenance activities.
• Participate in engineering growth activities, including interviews and peer development.

Requirements

• 1.5+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
• Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to design solutions spanning multiple software components and write clear, well-tested, extensible code.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
