TL;DR
Avionics Hardware Development Engineer (Space): Designing, manufacturing, and testing mixed-signal avionics hardware for spacecraft and space-based manufacturing systems with an accent on flight-qualified circuit boards, full product lifecycle ownership, and environmental testing. Focus on developing electrical components, performing thermal, vibration, shock, TVAC, and EMI validation, and solving root causes of test failures before flight.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. The role requires U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status because of ITAR-controlled technology.

Salary: $105,000–$157,658 per year for Engineer I; $119,543–$172,673 per year for Engineer II.

Company

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of direct electronics hardware design experience, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and board bring-up.
  • Experience developing flight hardware circuit boards from schematic capture through functional testing.
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, function generators, digital multimeters, and power supplies.
  • Understanding of analog and digital filtering, mixed-signal design, signal integrity, power, grounding, board layout, sensors, and actuators.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for ITAR-controlled technology access.

Nice to have

  • Experience delivering flight avionics for aircraft, launch vehicles, or space applications.
  • Experience with Altium Designer, environmental testing, and launch vehicle avionics integration.
  • Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, serial interfaces, accelerometers, and 4–20 mA sensors.

Culture & Benefits

  • Regular full-time employment with flexible paid time off and 12 paid holidays.
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance with FSA and employer-matched HSA options.
  • Parental leave, family-building benefits, wellness reimbursement, and sponsored One Medical memberships.
