Engineer II/Senior Engineer, Robotics Platform Evaluation (Robotics)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA; hands-on work in the lab with robotics hardware.

Expected base salary: $93,600–$158,400 USD annually, with bonus potential and early-stage equity.

What you will do

• Commission new robotics platforms from unboxing through integration with the software stack and infrastructure.
• Own end-to-end platform evaluations, including test plans, test execution, benchmarking, and decision-ready reports.
• Run test suites covering navigation, manipulation, perception, and controls.
• Integrate platforms with ROS2 and Nav2, adapting drivers, configurations, and interfaces.
• Characterize manipulators, grippers, AMRs, and AGVs against comparable production baselines.
• Extend shared evaluation tooling and identify integration issues, safety concerns, and platform limitations.

Requirements

• Professional experience deploying robotics platforms in production, commercial, or applied R&D environments.
• Hands-on experience with ROS2 and Nav2 in real-world deployments.
• Experience with manipulation, pick-and-place, motion planning, and grasp execution.
• Experience with controls for robot arms or mobile bases.
• Experience integrating and calibrating camera or lidar perception pipelines.
• Direct experience with AMRs/AGVs or 6–7 DoF arms, grippers, and end effectors, plus the ability to turn test results into clear comparisons.

Nice to have

• Experience evaluating multiple robotics platforms or vendors head to head.
• Experience with mobile manipulators and robotics simulation tools such as Isaac Sim or Gazebo.
• Experience building internal tooling for standardized robot testing.
• Background in industrial, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing automation.
