Principal Electrical Engineer (Data Centres)

Location: hirify.global headquarters, North Sydney, Australia; occasional travel across hirify.global's regions is required.

What you will do

• Lead, develop, and resource the global team of electrical engineering subject matter experts.
• Act as the senior electrical technical authority for design decisions, material risks, departures, waivers, and non-conformances.
• Own global electrical engineering and construction standards and electrical owner-supplied equipment specifications.
• Provide risk-based design assurance from concept through IFC and verify compliance with standards, codes, and customer commitments.
• Set technical direction across HV and LV distribution, generation, UPS, BESS, earthing, protection, power quality, controls interfaces, and electrical equipment.
• Partner with procurement, delivery, commissioning, and multidisciplinary engineering teams on vendor assessments, value engineering, site issues, and lessons learned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Typically 12+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, including leadership of senior engineers or SMEs across complex multi-project or multi-region portfolios.
• Deep expertise in mission-critical electrical systems and experience in data centres, mission-critical facilities, industrial infrastructure, or another high-availability environment.
• Experience owning engineering standards or equipment specifications and applying technical assurance, configuration control, delegated authority, and deviation governance.
• Strong resource planning, commercial evaluation, value engineering, vendor assessment, and technical trade-off skills.
• Chartered or Professional Engineer status, or equivalent recognized registration, is preferred; occasional regional travel is required.
