Principal Mechanical Engineer (Power Electronics)

Annual base salary: CAD 114,400–183,000

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deliver mechanical assemblies, including complete chassis designs for ultra-high-performance and power electronic products.
• Own mechanical product development from BOM creation, design, and validation through volume production.
• Apply design-for-manufacturing principles and collaborate with production shops and manufacturing teams.
• Support product look and feel, vendor engagement, customer trials, field issues, and sustaining engineering.
• Collaborate with hardware, ASIC, signal, thermal, diagnostic, packaging, manufacturing, and partner engineering teams.
• Provide technical leadership or mentorship to a small design team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 12+ years of related experience.
• Experience designing high-powered production enclosures capable of cooling 2kW/RU or more.
• Experience with power and thermal issues associated with PCBs with 1kW+ footprints.
• Experience collaborating with production shops and manufacturing teams to improve quality and transition designs into production.
• Understanding of relevant US, European, and Asian regulations and standards, including safety and environmental requirements.
• Experience owning complex products throughout the lifecycle, from inception to volume production.
