Assistant or Associate Professor of Professional Counseling

What you will do

• Teach master's-level courses in the CACREP core and in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Professional School Counseling concentrations in traditional and online formats.
• Provide clinical supervision for counselors-in-training, including practicum and internship supervision and clinical site visits.
• Advise and mentor graduate students throughout their academic and professional preparation.
• Support student recruitment, admissions, orientation, retention, curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with schools, school districts, mental health agencies, healthcare organizations, and community partners.
• Maintain professional involvement, a scholarly agenda, student research mentorship, and university service consistent with a tenure-track appointment.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate in Counselor Education or a closely related field; candidates with a confirmed doctoral completion date may be considered.
• Experience in university teaching and clinical supervision of counselors-in-training.
• Knowledge of CACREP standards, professional counseling practice, and preparation of clinical mental health and/or school counselors.
• Eligibility for appropriate professional licensure or certification in the State of Texas.
• Active involvement in appropriate professional counseling organizations.
• Appointment at the Associate Professor rank requires excellence in university teaching and scholarly research and publication commensurate with the candidate's experience and university expectations.

Nice to have

• Doctorate from a CACREP-accredited Counselor Education and Supervision program.
• Professional counseling licensure or Certified School Counselor credentials.
• Experience with CACREP-aligned graduate coursework, practicum and internship supervision, and online teaching.
• Experience in clinical mental health counseling, professional school counseling, program assessment, accreditation, or continuous improvement.
• Scholarly activity related to counseling, counselor education, or counselor preparation.
