Location: The Met Fifth Avenue, New York, NY; employees must live within commuting distance in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania.
Salary: $95,000–$105,000 per year.

What you will do
- Perform original and complex copy cataloging for print, electronic, digital, serial, and continuing resources.
- Create descriptive and technical metadata in MARC and non-MARC formats using current cataloging standards.
- Create and enhance LC/NACO records and contribute to linked data initiatives involving NACO, Wikidata, and other vocabularies.
- Lead cataloging work for Departmental Libraries and coordinate related projects involving staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Improve collection discoverability through publications, presentations, programs, social media, and digital collection metadata.
- Provide reference and research support to Museum staff and visiting researchers, including 3–4 weekend days per year.
Requirements
- ALA-accredited master's degree in library or information sciences.
- At least five years of professional experience in a museum or academic library and at least five years of original and complex copy cataloging experience.
- Experience with OCLC Connexion, MarcEdit, OpenRefine, and an integrated library system.
- Knowledge of MARC, RDA, AACR2, LCSH, and Program for Cooperative Cataloging standards, including NACO, SACO, and BIBCO.
- Reading knowledge of at least one Romance or other European language is required; proficiency in additional languages is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, instruction, reference, project-management, collaboration, and independent-work skills.
Nice to have
- Master's degree in Art History or significant humanities experience.
- Experience creating TMS records and updating NACO records.
- Experience with linked data initiatives, automated metadata enhancement at scale, and large cataloging projects.
