Senior Java Developer (Shopify)

Location: Remote, based in Portugal. Candidates must already be based in Portugal and hold Portuguese or EU citizenship or a valid Portuguese work permit.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain scalable Java backend services and APIs with Spring Boot.
• Run, maintain, and troubleshoot Shopify integrations in production.
• Design, develop, and maintain GraphQL APIs.
• Build and support AWS-based systems, including DynamoDB and secrets-management solutions.
• Work with Kafka and event-driven, asynchronous architectures.
• Monitor and trace distributed applications using OpenTelemetry and observability practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Solid backend development experience with complex, production-level systems.
• Hands-on experience with Shopify integrations, Spring Boot, GraphQL, AWS, Kafka or similar event-streaming technologies, and OpenTelemetry.
• Already based in Portugal with Portuguese or EU citizenship or a valid work permit.
• English fluency at C1 level.
