2027 Summer Intern, Research & Analysis (Energy)

Location: Hybrid from Reston, Virginia, or New York, New York; candidates must be U.S. citizens, reside in the U.S., and be authorized to work in the U.S. Relocation and housing assistance are not available.

Salary: $23/hour for undergraduate interns and $28/hour for graduate interns. The stated full-time pay range is $37,855–$77,869.

What you will do

• Support research and analysis of utility programs, emerging energy technologies, distributed energy resources, virtual power plants, and electrification.
• Develop dashboards, presentations, and visualizations for business strategy and client delivery.
• Support product development and commercialization initiatives for innovative energy solutions.
• Assist with business development, proposal preparation, and strategic planning.
• Synthesize complex information into concise summaries and recommendations.
• Collaborate with domain leads and cross-functional teams on ongoing and ad hoc work.

Requirements

• At least 30 completed college-level credit hours and active enrollment in a bachelor's or master's program in a relevant field.
• U.S. citizenship, U.S. residence, and authorization to work in the U.S. are required.
• Strong written and oral communication, analytical, interpersonal, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under deadlines, prioritize tasks, and learn in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice to have

• Completed bachelor's degree and enrollment in a master's program or relevant graduate coursework.
• Experience with data analytics, visualization, or reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Excel Power Query.
• Experience using AI-enabled productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot or ChatGPT.
• Interest in distributed energy resources, battery storage, load flexibility, demand response, and electrification.
