Staff Software Engineer (Database/SQL): Designing, implementing, and testing advanced features for the Teradata SQL Engine with an accent on query optimization, database kernel development, and cloud-based data management. What you will do
- Design, develop, validate, and test advanced SQL Engine, database, and query optimization features.
- Contribute across the full Agile software development lifecycle, from software design through customer support.
- Analyze functional and performance defects, implement corrections, and support robust and resilient database products.
- Research technical direction for complex feature development and evaluate competing database management and data integration solutions.
- Lead technical direction for software engineers and support planning, tracking, and status reporting for large projects.
- Design and maintain core database kernel areas for massively parallel processing and hybrid cloud systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent master’s or doctoral degree with the stated experience.
- Technical leadership in cloud-based data management, query processing, and query optimization.
- Strong programming skills in C, C++, Java, Python, R, and SQL.
- Experience with database technologies, system development, object-oriented design, design patterns, test-driven development, and complex debugging.
- Experience designing large-scale, elastic, highly available cloud database services or distributed systems.
- Deep understanding of AWS and public cloud technologies and operations, plus experience with Agile development methods and tools.

- Experience contributing to open source projects.
- Assembly-level programming and debugging skills.
