AI Engineer

Location: Full-time onsite in Aiea, Hawaii, United States

Salary: $140,000–$173,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Design, build, test, and support AI-enabled systems that improve client workflows, knowledge management, and decision-making.
• Transform operational and business processes into integrated AI tools, workflows, and agentic systems using Maven Smart System.
• Develop RAG workflows, AI agents, prompt templates, structured outputs, and reusable AI patterns.
• Support internal LLM development, fine-tuning, embeddings, vector search, data ingestion, and AI search capabilities.
• Integrate AI systems with cloud environments, APIs, databases, knowledge repositories, dashboards, and workflow tools.
• Evaluate AI performance, accuracy, relevance, and usefulness while supporting governance, human-in-the-loop review, data protection, and auditability.

Requirements

• Current DoD Top Secret SCI security clearance and US citizenship are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, AI, data science, software engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related field; additional experience may substitute.
• 5–8 years of relevant technical experience developing AI-enabled systems, tools, workflows, automation, or data integrations.
• Experience with cloud environments, AI tools, APIs, databases, system integration, LLMs, RAG, AI agents, embeddings, vector search, prompt engineering, and AI evaluation.
• Ability to transform business and military operational processes into AI-integrated tools; military operational experience or strong understanding of military workflows is required or strongly preferred.
• Must meet applicable DoD 8140 / DCWF requirements; IAT or IAM certifications are preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with Maven Smart System or Palantir.
• Experience supporting operational, intelligence, or defense organizations.
• Experience with Python, data pipelines, AI development frameworks, internal LLM development, fine-tuning, or domain adaptation.
• Experience creating RAG systems, AI agents, or prompt libraries.
