Head of Compliance, EU & UK (Crypto)

What you will do

• Set the strategic direction and lead delivery of the compliance program across European and UK entities.
• Lead and develop Country Heads of Compliance and MLROs while preserving local accountability and decision-making.
• Maintain compliance independence, provide direct access to Boards, and act as an escalation point for complex issues.
• Build scalable compliance frameworks and improve workflows through data, automation, and AI-enabled tools.
• Partner with Business, Product, Legal, Operations, Risk, and control functions on licensing, products, market entry, and regulatory obligations.
• Lead regulatory examinations, inquiries, investigations, compliance reviews, and data-driven reporting to management and Boards.

Requirements

• 10–12+ years of compliance experience in financial services, fintech, or crypto, including experience building and operating compliance programs.
• Strong knowledge of EU and UK regulation, including MiCA, MiFID II, MAR, AMLD5/6, AMLR, AMLA, the Transfer of Funds Regulation, DORA, GDPR, and the UK cryptoasset regime.
• Experience managing and developing senior compliance leaders across multiple countries or regulated entities.
• Strong people leadership, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to use data, metrics, SLAs, and KPIs to measure performance, identify bottlenecks, and support resourcing decisions.
• Ability to present compliance programs, risk posture, and performance to Boards, regulators, and senior committees.

Nice to have

• Experience scaling a crypto or high-growth fintech business in Europe.
• Prior experience as a Country Head of Compliance, MLRO, or another approved role.
• Experience working with the MFSA, FIAU, FCA, or other European regulators.
• CAMS, an ICA Diploma, or an equivalent certification.
