2027 Software Internship (Embedded Systems)

Location: On-site in London, Edinburgh, Scotland, or Newbury, England. Interns must live within commuting distance of the work location or be willing to relocate to the UK before starting. Interns should expect to work in the office up to 5 days per week.

What you will do

• Work on an industrial engineering project relevant to a Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering degree.
• Develop, debug, and optimize embedded firmware for commercial product platforms.
• Create cross-platform desktop tools, developer workflows, configuration tools, automation, plugins, and APIs using Java and Python.
• Develop and debug Linux and MCU device drivers and run automated tests through CI systems such as Jenkins.
• Develop functional, system, and stress tests on real hardware from FPGA emulation through silicon.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, UX, and other cross-functional engineering teams.

Requirements

• Enrolled in a BEng or MEng in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, or a related subject, with a 2:1 or better expected.
• Some experience with developing or evaluating signal processing.
• Understanding of software development principles and an interest in embedded systems.
• Relevant programming experience in C, C++, or Python; specific role areas may also use Java, C#, Linux kernel development, or object-oriented programming.
• Excellent problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Must meet U.S. export control eligibility requirements; visa sponsorship or deemed export license sponsorship is not available.
