Embedded Firmware Engineer (Energy Devices)

What you will do

• Develop low-level firmware and drivers for microcontrollers and embedded peripherals including SPI, I2C, UART, DMA, ADC, timers, Flash, and CAN.
• Design and implement real-time control software and embedded algorithms for energy devices.
• Write, test, and debug embedded C/C++ firmware for bare-metal and RTOS-based systems.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, and controls teams on firmware requirements and test plans.
• Support board bring-up, profiling, hardware debugging, code reviews, documentation, and firmware practice improvements.
• Maintain bootloaders, linker scripts, and firmware deployment pipelines.

Requirements

• On-site work in London, United Kingdom.
• At least 2 years of experience in embedded systems or firmware engineering.
• Strong C proficiency and experience developing firmware for microcontrollers.
• Hands-on experience with MCU peripherals and real-time systems, plus embedded toolchains such as GNU or IAR.
• Familiarity with Git, Docker, CI pipelines, and hardware debugging tools including oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and JTAG/SWD.

Nice to have

• Experience with power electronics or grid-connected converter controls.
• Knowledge of control systems and digital signal processing, including FIR, IIR, and FFT.
• Experience with embedded bootloaders, memory maps, linker scripts, board bring-up, and low-level hardware/software integration.
