Compiler Engineering Intern (C/C++)

Location: Shanghai, China; hybrid work model with time split between the assigned hirify.global site and off-site work.

What you will do

• Contribute to the design, implementation, testing, and analysis of compiler and runtime technologies.
• Develop and debug C or C++ software in a large collaborative codebase.
• Create and improve tests, reproduce defects, analyze failures, and deliver reliable solutions.
• Evaluate functional correctness, compile-time behavior, runtime performance, and code quality.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, project planning, and collaboration with mentors and hardware architecture engineers.
• Document experiments and results, present project outcomes, and contribute to open-source projects when relevant.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
• Graduate-level coursework, research, or project experience in compilers, programming languages, computer architecture, parallel computing, or systems software.
• Programming experience in C or C++ and experience working with complex software systems.
• Experience designing experiments, analyzing technical results, and communicating conclusions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, written communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with LLVM, MLIR, Clang, Flang, SYCL/DPC++, Triton, OpenMP, CUDA, or related compiler and parallel-programming ecosystems.
• Experience with CPU/GPU architectures, heterogeneous computing, AI/ML compilation, HPC, parallel programming, or performance optimization.
• Experience with PyTorch, vLLM, SGLang, DeepSeek, Hugging Face, Qimi, tile-based programming models, or GPU compute kernel development.
• Open-source contributions, publications, technical reports, patents, or other evidence of advanced technical work.
