Principal Product Manager (Data Platform)

Location: Hybrid and flexible, based in Melbourne or Sydney, Australia. Fixed-term 12-month role.

What you will do

• Define and communicate the vision and roadmap for REA’s data platform in alignment with company and data strategy.
• Lead product direction for a platform built predominantly on Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Atlan, Airflow, Apache Kafka, Soda, and Tableau.
• Shape capabilities that improve scalability, reliability, quality, security, governance, discoverability, usability, and developer and data experience.
• Advance the data mesh vision and self-service capabilities, increasing the quality, access, and usage of data across REA.
• Prioritise platform opportunities and partner with engineering, architecture, data, product, design, and business stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes.
• Advise senior leaders on strategic decisions using technical fluency, customer insight, and commercial judgment.

Requirements

• Significant experience in senior product management, product leadership, or a comparable strategic product role in complex technology or data environments.
• Experience leading the evolution of an established data, technology, or developer platform.
• Strong understanding of data products, data platforms, data mesh, self-service, governance, and modern cloud technologies.
• Experience collaborating with engineering, architecture, design, data, and business stakeholders in an agile environment.
• Strong strategic thinking, systems perspective, analytical skills, commercial judgment, and decision-making ability.
• Exceptional communication and influencing skills, including the ability to simplify complex domains for diverse stakeholders.
