TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer II- Avionics / Electromechanical / Harnessing (Aerospace): Scaling spacecraft electromechanical and payload assembly processes, including wire harness fabrication, connector installation, cable routing, and acceptance testing with an accent on high-reliability manufacturing, contamination control, and traceable build records. Focus on translating customer and interface requirements into production processes, solving electromechanical non-conformances, and coordinating payload integration with vehicle build schedules.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status are required because the role involves access to export-controlled technology.

Salary: $119,543–$152,749 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

Company

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-space pharmaceutical processing payloads, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

  • Own manufacturing and assembly processes for spacecraft payload systems, experiment modules, pharmaceutical processing hardware, and customer-furnished equipment.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, assembly travelers, process specifications, and acceptance test procedures.
  • Translate customer requirements and interface control document constraints into executable production processes.
  • Implement contamination control, cleanliness, handling, inspection, and acceptance testing for sensitive payload hardware.
  • Provide DFM and DFA feedback on assembly accessibility, connector placement, thermal interfaces, and testability.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions while coordinating payload readiness with vehicle integration schedules.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience with electromechanical assemblies in electronics, aerospace, defense, or another high-reliability industry.
  • Experience with wire harness fabrication, IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards, and D-sub, circular MIL-spec, or coaxial connector assembly.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and connector pinouts and trace defects to durable corrective actions.
  • Strong collaboration skills and comfort working directly with technicians on a production floor.
  • Ability to regularly lift 25 lbs., bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods; U.S. person status and authorization to work in the United States are required.

Nice to have

  • Spacecraft or launch vehicle electromechanical integration experience in a production environment.
  • Experience with ESD control, grounding and bonding, flight-hardware cleanliness, cable routing, or EMI and vibration constraints.
  • Experience writing work instructions, MRB dispositions, or transitioning assemblies into rate production.
  • Familiarity with automated wire processing equipment, harness tooling, or PDM/PLM systems such as Windchill, Teamcenter, or Arena.

Culture & Benefits

  • Regular full-time employment with flexible PTO and 12 paid holidays.
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance with FSA and employer-matched HSA options.
  • 12 weeks of parental leave, family-building support, and sponsored One Medical memberships.
  • 401(k) plan with a 6% employer match and immediate vesting, plus equity incentives.
  • Daily lunch, twice-weekly dinner, wellness reimbursement, company events, and complimentary EV charging.
  • Relocation support may be available for new hires.
