AI-First Backend Developer

Location: Dearborn, Michigan, United States; hybrid with a requirement to be onsite four or more days per week. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Base salary: $99,600–$166,600 or $115,000–$192,900 annually, depending on salary grade, skills, experience, and job scope.

What you will do

• Develop specifications, acceptance criteria, and architectural guidelines for AI-first, spec-driven development.
• Use AI coding agents, reusable prompts, automated testing, security scanning, and static analysis to improve software quality.
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and environment automation on Google Cloud Platform.
• Build self-service deployment tools with observability, feature flags, and automated rollback capabilities.
• Build production-grade Python services, secure versioned APIs, and scalable data models with BigQuery and PostgreSQL.
• Develop data and machine learning pipelines while collaborating with data scientists, technical teams, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of experience in data science, data engineering, or software engineering.
• 3+ years of experience building and operating cloud-based workloads, preferably on GCP.
• Strong Python skills, experience with data pipelines, analytical solutions, CI/CD processes, BigQuery, and data modeling.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding agents and validating AI-generated outputs.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with spec-driven or AI-assisted development practices.
• GCP certifications in data engineering, cloud development, or DevOps.
• Experience in platform engineering, developer experience, or DORA metrics.
• Background in automotive, manufacturing, or product-cost analytics.
