R&D Engineer (Product Development Designer / Engineer) (Automotive)

What you will do

• Support the design and development of new products, components, assemblies, fixtures, and customer-specific modifications.
• Create and update 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, bills of material, and product information in SAP and other engineering systems.
• Perform engineering analysis, design reviews, tolerance evaluations, product improvements, and engineering changes.
• Coordinate prototype builds and evaluations, and plan and perform product testing and validation activities.
• Prepare test results, engineering reports, and technical documentation while communicating project status, risks, and findings.
• Work with Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, suppliers, and customers on production launches, process development, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Knowledge of mechanical design, product development, manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
• Experience with 3D CAD and engineering drawings; SolidWorks experience is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, organization, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to support APQP, DVP&R, FMEA, product testing, validation, prototype builds, and production or process development.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
• Ability to travel to customers, suppliers, and other company locations as required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001, or similar quality systems.
• SAP experience.
• Manufacturing or automotive industry experience.
