Data Systems Engineer

Location: Manchester, UK; onsite attendance expected. Applicants must have the permanent right to work in the UK.

Salary: £40,000–£45,000 per year, plus a bonus of up to 6%.

What you will do

• Analyse data and develop dashboards, reports, databases, and analytics solutions for Manchester Quality Labs.
• Write code and develop software, workflow automation, and systems integrations.
• Contribute to or lead technical projects from concept through implementation.
• Maintain delivered systems and drive measurable improvements in laboratory productivity, efficiency, and performance.
• Work with lab managers, engineers, technicians, and project teams to understand operational challenges and deliver solutions.
• Explore emerging technologies, including appropriate AI applications, to address operational needs.

Requirements

• Experience developing technical solutions for operational or business challenges.
• Experience analysing, processing, or managing data.
• Ability to write code and develop software, automation, reporting, or data solutions.
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, Go, C#, Java, VBA, or similar.
• Knowledge of SQL, databases, dashboards, reporting tools, analytics platforms, workflow automation, APIs, or systems integration is beneficial.
• Experience in laboratory, scientific, engineering, semiconductor, or another technology-focused environment is beneficial.
