Salary: $86,320–$154,960 per year for the Scientist level; $65,520–$114,400 per year for the Associate Scientist level

What you will do

• Lead the laboratory's mammalian cell culture and influenza virology operations.
• Maintain cell lines and primary cultures, produce and validate influenza virus stocks, and generate recombinant and tagged viruses using reverse genetics.
• Develop stable and CRISPR-engineered cell lines and perform cloning, transfections, immunoprecipitations, western blotting, fluorescence microscopy, and confocal imaging.
• Establish laboratory infrastructure, procure and commission equipment, manage inventories, and oversee service and maintenance activities.
• Develop SOPs, biosafety documentation, electronic notebooks, protocol repositories, and data management systems for BSL-2 laboratory operations.
• Train, mentor, and supervise junior staff and trainees while contributing to publications, grants, presentations, and scientific conferences.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in cell biology, virology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related scientific field.
• Relevant research experience: 8 years for Scientist, or 7+ years for Associate Scientist; reduced experience requirements apply with a master's or doctoral degree.
• Experience with mammalian and primary cell culture, influenza propagation and infection, plaque or TCID50 assays, viral stock quality control, and BSL-2 biosafety practices.
• Experience with molecular biology, CRISPR-based genome engineering, stable cell line generation, protein biochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, and confocal imaging.
• Strong laboratory documentation, inventory management, regulatory compliance, communication, organization, and scientific leadership skills.
• Work must be performed onsite in Memphis, Tennessee.

Nice to have

• Influenza reverse genetics and recombinant virus generation.
• Organoid, air-liquid interface, or other tissue-derived model systems.
• Electronic laboratory notebook or laboratory information management system administration.
• Electron microscopy or mass spectrometry sample preparation, proteomics, or crosslinking mass spectrometry.
• Experience establishing laboratories and mentoring scientific staff or students.
