Manager I, Engineering - Language Platform (Observability)

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 4–8 library engineers.
• Own team delivery, productivity, planning, milestones, and reviews.
• Collaborate with Product teams to expand SDK platform capabilities and deliver open-source, zero-touch APM instrumentation.
• Guide SDK architecture, APIs, data models, and protocols across nine supported languages.
• Apply strong technical judgment, contribute code where it has the greatest impact, and maintain high standards for quality and architecture.
• Build alignment across language teams, Product, and backend engineering while shaping team culture.

Requirements

• Experience as an Engineering Manager with a track record of shipping software.
• Strong, empathetic leadership skills and the ability to build and lead high-performing engineering teams.
• Ability to move between high-level product narratives and detailed technical implementation.
• Significant programming experience in one or more of Go, C, or Rust.
• Technical judgment sufficient to stay close to implementation, architecture, and software quality.
