Director, Payments & Financial Services (Fintech)

Location: Remote within the United States; applicants must be legally eligible to work in the US and identify the state from which they will work.

What you will do

• Run the Payments and Financial Services operating rhythm, including business reviews, KPI reporting, forecasts, and P&L reviews.
• Lead delivery of priority initiatives such as surcharging, repricing, AutoPay, interchange optimization, BNPL, and embedded financial products.
• Own payment operations, including payouts, reconciliation, processor workflows, automation, 1099 operations, compliance reviews, and PayFac controls.
• Manage relationships with Stripe, BNPL providers, processors, card networks, vendors, advisors, and consultants.
• Set pricing and manage strategic customer decisions while balancing growth, margin, and sub-merchant risk.
• Drive cross-functional execution and support payments strategy, planning, market intelligence, risk management, and product expansion.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in payments, fintech, embedded finance, or SaaS financial services.
• Commercial ownership experience covering revenue, margin, pricing, partner economics, or P&L responsibility.
• Hands-on knowledge of processing, interchange, PayFac and sub-merchant models, BNPL, TPV, attach rates, pricing, repricing, and margin management.
• Experience leading cross-functional work across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Support, and Risk.
• Experience managing payment partners, processors, or card networks and communicating effectively with executives.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; legal eligibility to work in the United States is required.

Nice to have

• MBA or equivalent experience.
• Experience with embedded finance, card issuing, treasury, or banking-as-a-service.
• Knowledge of fraud, chargebacks, merchant underwriting, 1099 operations, payouts, reconciliation, and processor workflow automation.
