Engineering Manager, Client Data & Lifecycle (Fintech)

Location: Munich or Berlin offices, or remote work within Germany if eligible for the role.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of five backend engineers.
• Provide technical direction for databases, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, and AWS-based infrastructure.
• Guide architecture focused on data integrity, consistency, scalability, performance, and operational reliability.
• Build platform capabilities for retirement accounts and expansion into additional European markets.
• Enable reusable client-data capabilities, asynchronous replication, and integrations across engineering teams.
• Partner with Product, Compliance, Operations, and Client Support while contributing to technical roadmaps and hiring.

Requirements

• Several years of software engineering experience with complex backend or distributed systems.
• Previous experience managing and developing software engineering teams.
• Strong expertise in database-backed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, APIs, asynchronous communication, and scalable services.
• Practical experience with AWS or a comparable cloud environment.
• Strong understanding of software design, testing, observability, production operations, and architectural trade-offs.
• Professional proficiency in English is required. A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is expected.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kotlin, Java, or Spring Boot.
• Experience with master data, data platforms, data quality, or data replication.
• Background in fintech, banking, or other regulated environments.
• Experience building platforms used by multiple product or engineering teams.
• Familiarity with compliance-sensitive client data and lifecycle processes.
