What you will do
- Prototype, implement, debug, polish, and maintain interactive world features, gameplay verbs, activities, challenges, and environmental interactions in Unreal Engine.
- Build levels from blockout through delivery, shaping flow, pacing, navigation, readability, exploration, puzzles, traversal, and encounters.
- Create reusable gameplay components, tools, and modular systems that help designers build and iterate on levels efficiently.
- Playtest and iterate on features and levels to encourage experimentation, cooperation, and memorable multiplayer moments.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and other disciplines to integrate player abilities, creature encounters, technical requirements, and reliable multiplayer behavior.
- Document implementations and tools, while profiling and resolving performance issues with Engineering.
Requirements
- Strong level design fundamentals in spatial composition, flow, pacing, and player guidance for open-world exploration and multiplayer games.
- At least one shipped game as a level designer on a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in Unreal Engine Blueprints and/or C++, including independent gameplay prototyping, implementation, and debugging.
- Experience building levels and authoring collision and navigation in Unreal Engine.
- Strong playtesting, iteration, communication, collaboration, and independent decision-making skills.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States or Canada and availability during North American time zones (EST–PST) are required.
Nice to have
- Experience building reusable level design tools, modular gameplay kits, or procedural workflows in Unreal Engine.
- Experience designing systemic puzzles, physics-based interactions, or environmental features with multiple solutions and emergent multiplayer gameplay.
- Experience profiling and optimizing gameplay scripts and level content.
