Senior Staff AI Security Lead

Location: Remote, US; onsite or hybrid from an hirify.global office, with a fully remote option for the right candidate

Salary: $180,000–$225,000 USD base salary, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build the shared AI platform for security teams, including model gateways, routing, access controls, secrets handling, rate limiting, cost attribution, and audit logging.
• Design secure agentic workflows with tool and MCP integration, sandboxed execution, human approval gates, and least-privilege credentials.
• Connect security knowledge to AI systems through governed retrieval pipelines with access controls and data classification enforcement.
• Develop evaluation harnesses, regression suites, observability, and quality baselines covering output quality, latency, cost, hallucinations, and drift.
• Drive AI adoption across detection engineering, incident response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, GRC, and security operations.
• Partner with Platform Engineering, IT, Legal, Privacy, Compliance, and AI/ML teams on architecture, governance, enablement, and risk management.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in security engineering, platform engineering, or a related technical field, including substantial hands-on software development.
• Production experience building and operating systems with large language models.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including Python or an equivalent language, API design, distributed systems, and AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Deep knowledge of identity and access management, secrets management, network boundaries, logging, detection, and secure software development.
• Practical knowledge of prompt injection, jailbreaks, model-output data leakage, insecure agent tool use, and AI supply-chain risks.
• U.S. work authorization or eligibility under U.S. export-control and government-contract requirements may be required.

Nice to have

• Experience with agent frameworks, orchestration, MCP, LLM evaluation, or observability tooling.
• Background in security operations, detection engineering, or incident response.
• Experience with retrieval systems, embeddings, vector databases, knowledge pipelines, or open-weight model evaluation.
• Familiarity with NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, or the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications.
