Software Engineer III, Backend (Java/Go)

Location: Hybrid role in San Francisco or Palo Alto, California, United States

What you will do

• Design, develop, and operate scalable, resilient distributed services running on Kubernetes or ECS.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to expand Tinder's service platform.
• Influence the engineering roadmap and product development.
• Recruit, support, and develop other team members.

Requirements

• 2+ years of industry experience and a BS/MS in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
• Strong experience with a backend language such as Java, Node, Go, or C++.
• Excellent knowledge of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and coding.
• Experience designing and building distributed backend systems that handle high volumes of traffic.
• Ability to work through ambiguous business requirements with strong prioritization, time management, and execution skills.
• Passion for solving complex engineering problems and making continuous improvements.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB or Cassandra.
• Experience with Redis, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Spark, TypeScript, Docker, Agile development, or CI/CD.
