Patient Care Tech-General Medicine (Healthcare)

Location: 251 E. Huron, Chicago, IL, United States; onsite day shift

What you will do

• Assist registered nurses with direct and indirect patient care, including admissions, transfers, discharges, rounding, and patient comfort.
• Measure and document vital signs, intake and output, blood glucose, EKGs, oxygen saturation, and other clinical observations.
• Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, catheter and heplock discontinuation, dressing changes, and basic patient-care procedures.
• Support adult and newborn care, including feeding, bathing, hearing screening, glucose checks, and nursery observation.
• Transport patients, equipment, and supplies; assist with mobility, positioning, pre- and post-operative care, and emergency response.
• Maintain room readiness, equipment, supplies, documentation, quality checks, and a safe and clean care environment.

Requirements

• CNA certification or current enrollment in a nursing program with completed basic clinical rotations.
• American Heart Association CPR recognition or BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
• High school diploma.
• Unit-based recognition for capillary blood glucose monitoring and at least 90% on annual Health and Safety Training quizzes.
• Ability to work onsite in Chicago and communicate effectively with patients, families, nursing staff, and medical staff.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check is required for new hires and certain internal transfers.

Nice to have

• One year of college, nursing education, or equivalent experience.
• Previous healthcare-setting experience.
• Associate or bachelor's degree.
