Spaceflight Structural Hardware Systems Engineer (Aerospace/NASA): Leading requirements, verification, certification, and systems engineering for NASA JSC flight hardware with an accent on space hardware architecture, design trades, and risk analysis. Focus on managing requirements from program flow-down through verification closeout, preparing SRR/PDR/CDR materials, and coordinating subsystem interfaces.

Location: NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas; full-time onsite. U.S. citizenship is required.

What you will do

  • Lead the planning, development, review, and maintenance of requirements and verification plans throughout the NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes.
  • Prepare and present materials for system lifecycle reviews, including SRR, PDR, and CDR.
  • Create and manage requirements from NASA program flow-down through contractor project verification closeout.
  • Define subsystem interfaces and perform system-level architecture trade studies and analyses affecting design and performance.
  • Identify risks, develop risk statements, and support risk-response planning.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary team members, NASA customers, and other NASA support contractors while reporting progress and raising issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and typically 5–10 years of related experience; licenses or certifications may be required.
  • Experience providing mechanical design support within the NASA JSC Flight Hardware process.
  • Experience supporting mechanical systems engineering across multiple NASA JSC flight hardware projects and lifecycle, certification, and engineering processes.
  • Senior-level experience with requirements management, verification and validation, design trades, risk analysis, and space hardware systems analysis.
  • Systems engineering experience in a NASA, Department of Defense, or aerospace environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparing documents and presenting at technical meetings; familiarity with SharePoint and Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

  • Working knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standards and requirements, including safety and fault tolerance.
  • Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases, SharePoint sites, and systems engineering software.
  • Experience in technical or team leadership roles.
