TL;DR
Director of Software Engineering (AI/Payments): Leading enterprise software platforms and cross-functional engineering teams with an accent on AI-native delivery, payment systems, cloud computing, and resilient architecture. Focus on modernizing monolithic payment applications into AWS-based microservices, establishing enterprise architecture standards, and delivering high-volume transactional systems in security-sensitive environments.
Location: Washington, DC, United States; Active Secret clearance or above required

What you will do
- Lead, manage, and grow multiple product-focused software engineering teams.
- Direct enterprise software delivery and align technology roadmaps with product and business priorities.
- Champion AI-native software delivery through AI tools, automation, and intelligent engineering workflows.
- Guide the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of full-stack technical solutions.
- Lead the modernization of monolithic applications into cloud-native microservices and deploy applications to AWS.
- Establish architecture standards while driving availability, resilience, scalability, talent development, and succession planning.
Requirements
- Active Secret clearance or above.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science.
- At least 5 years of people management experience and 8 years designing, developing, or leading enterprise software solutions.
- At least 7 years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, and cloud computing across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
- Experience with high-volume, highly available transactional systems, business-critical payment platforms, security, scalability, resiliency, integrations, and production support.
- Experience leading engineering teams and mentoring senior engineers, with expertise in payment processing, payment security, cloud-native modernization, databases, and system development lifecycles.
Nice to have
- 10+ years of experience with web technologies, including JavaScript, TypeScript, and SPA frameworks.
- 10+ years of professional coding experience with Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala.
- Experience with card-present and card-not-present payments, payment terminals, digital payment channels, or B2B payment platforms.
- Knowledge of PCI DSS and sensitive payment data protection.
- Experience leading cross-domain architectural reviews and establishing coding and design standards.
