TL;DR
AWS Cloud Engineer (IL6/Backend & Database): Designing and operating secure AWS IL6 cloud infrastructure, backend services, APIs, microservices, and scalable database solutions for mission-critical government and DoD programs with an accent on security, availability, compliance, and performance. Focus on building cloud-native architectures, implementing Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines, and optimizing relational and NoSQL databases under stringent regulated-environment requirements.
Location: 100% remote; work supports AWS IL6, AWS GovCloud, DoD, and other regulated government cloud environments.
Salary: $130,000+ annually

What you will do
- Design, deploy, configure, and maintain secure AWS infrastructure in IL6 environments.
- Develop and integrate backend applications, REST APIs, microservices, and data services.
- Design scalable, highly available database architectures and data models.
- Develop and optimize schemas, indexes, queries, stored procedures, transactions, and database performance.
- Build cloud-native solutions using serverless, containerized, and microservices architectures.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and automated application, infrastructure, and database deployments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and administering AWS cloud environments.
- Experience with AWS IL6, AWS GovCloud, or comparable high-security government cloud environments.
- Experience with enterprise databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or Amazon Aurora, as well as AWS services including RDS, Aurora, and DynamoDB.
- Experience developing REST APIs or backend services, designing database schemas and data-access layers, and using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Knowledge of CI/CD, DevSecOps, AWS security controls, NIST 800-53, RMF, FedRAMP, DISA STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
Nice to have
- Large-scale production experience with PostgreSQL or Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Experience with DynamoDB or other NoSQL databases.
- Experience with database replication, clustering, partitioning, and high-availability architectures.
