TL;DR
Sr. Analyst, Authorization Services Design & Configuration (Healthcare): Designing and maintaining authorization workflows, business rules, and automations within a healthcare Utilization Management system with an accent on translating business requirements into precise technical specifications and validating system behavior. Focus on root-cause analysis, workflow optimization, testing complex configuration logic, and educating cross-functional partners on how system design supports care decisions.
Location: Tempe, Arizona, United States; hybrid schedule with three days in the office per week, including Thursdays
Base pay: $67,813–$89,005 per year, plus annual performance bonuses

What you will do
- Manage authorization workflows, rulesets, and automations within the Utilization Management platform.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and implement accurately tested business logic.
- Investigate escalations, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve configuration and system behavior gaps.
- Identify authorization process friction points and document workflow improvement and automation opportunities.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for the Utilization Management system and educate Product, Clinical, and Regulatory partners.
- Develop testing protocols, validate system behavior, lead corrective activities, and maintain documentation for business rules and workflow designs.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in system configuration, business rules management, or technical workflow design.
- At least 2 years of experience in a technical or operational role involving root-cause analysis and data troubleshooting.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data manipulation.
- Experience assessing end-to-end process impacts in complex technical environments.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical system logic to non-technical partners.
- At least 1 year of experience in the healthcare industry, either with a payer or provider.
Nice to have
- Experience with prior authorizations or insurance operations.
- At least 2 years of experience with SQL, BigQuery, or similar database languages.
- Experience with JIRA, Linear, Slack, large datasets, data verification, or data management.
