Vice President, Platform Engineering (BESS)

Location: Heathrow, Florida, USA; hybrid or remote

What you will do

• Own the BESS platform lifecycle and ensure product performance, reliability, margins, and total cost of ownership.
• Lead day-to-day engineering operations and act as the primary technical decision-maker alongside the CTO.
• Design and scale the engineering organization, including structure, hiring, career development, and retention.
• Establish industrial-grade processes covering Stage-Gate, revision control, product lifecycle management, and requirements management.
• Lead technical validation and negotiations with strategic suppliers of cells, inverters, and enclosures.
• Drive cross-functional alignment, bill-of-materials reduction, compliance, safety, and operational risk mitigation.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in design and engineering leadership.
• Deep experience with energy storage, power systems, and power conversion technologies.
• Technical expertise in Li-ion battery systems, battery enclosures, power conversion systems, and power generation, transmission, and distribution.
• Knowledge of BESS standards including UL9540, UL1973, UL1642, UL1741, IEEE1547, IEEE2800, NFPA855, NFPA70, NFPA70E, NFPA69, and NFPA68.
• Expertise in grid-tied power conversion, including grid-following and grid-forming systems, plus utility communications and industrial Ethernet networks.

• Experience recruiting, training, mentoring, and developing technical personnel.
• Ability to represent the organization with utility customers, investors, and industry groups.
