Senior Software Engineer (Java, Optimizer Hub)

Location: Hybrid role based in Prague, Limassol/Cyprus, or Belgrade/Serbia; full remote work is also possible.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java services, including APIs, protocols, data storage, and real-time optimization engines.
• Build server-side Optimizer Hub components that communicate with JVMs across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Debug complex distributed systems issues under performance constraints and with limited diagnostic data.
• Design observability, profiling, and diagnostic tooling for internal development and customer deployments.
• Create benchmarks, analyze profiler output, improve performance, and participate in design discussions and code reviews.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience focused on backend and server-side systems.
• Deep knowledge of JVM internals, including memory management, garbage collection, JIT compilation, and threading.
• Production experience with distributed systems and microservices.
• Strong understanding of concurrency, low-latency design, performance optimization, API and protocol design, and debugging.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and Kubernetes.

Nice to have

• Experience with JVM agents, JVMTI, bytecode manipulation, or OpenJDK internals.
• Background in performance engineering, profilers, or runtime observability.
• Experience with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, WebSockets, high-throughput messaging, metrics, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Previous work on a Java platform, middleware, or infrastructure product.
