Senior Engineering Manager - Scalable Machine Learning (Autonomous Driving)

Location: Dearborn, Michigan; Palo Alto, California; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; or Remote within the United States. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. Visa sponsorship is available.

Base salary: $253,120–$379,680 per year in California, plus eligibility for annual bonuses, equity compensation, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead and mentor the Scalable ML engineering team while maintaining high technical standards.
• Define multi-quarter technical strategy for data generation, orchestration, and distributed training infrastructure.
• Represent the team in organizational planning and architecture decisions involving GPU scheduling, quotas, job orchestration, storage, and compute costs.
• Drive MLOps practices including model artifact management, experiment tracking, automated deployment, and model testing.
• Build technical partnerships with ML Platform, Jobs Platform, Cloud Platform, and HPC teams.
• Maintain high reliability standards and lead cross-team incident root-cause analysis, remediation, and prevention.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of experience or a master’s degree with 8 years of experience in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of software development experience, including 5 years in a Staff, Principal, or senior technical leadership role.
• Experience setting technical strategy across multiple teams or organizations.
• Expertise in large-scale distributed systems, cloud infrastructure for machine learning, shared GPU compute, job orchestration, and multi-tenant clusters.
• Experience developing and optimizing machine learning data pipelines for data generation, management, and distributed training.
• Strong Python proficiency and experience delivering complex, scalable, reliable, multi-organization software initiatives.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related field.
• Experience with Ray, PyTorch, Dagster, LakeFS, or PyArrow.
• Experience with multi-sensor data fusion and autonomous driving data processing.
• Knowledge of safety-critical software development in automotive or robotics.
• Understanding of machine learning, computer vision, and L2/L3 autonomy.
