Senior Project Manager, Biologics R&D - Early Pipeline Programs

Location: On-site in South San Francisco, California, United States; remote candidates will not be considered.

Base salary: $148,000–$185,000 annually, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Plan and coordinate biologics research programs from early discovery through lead selection and advancing IND-enabling work.
• Build and maintain timelines covering critical paths, milestones, dependencies, deliverables, resources, and risks across concurrent programs.
• Define milestones and decisive experiments with scientific teams, translating results into updated plans and next steps.
• Facilitate cross-functional meetings, document decisions, track action items, and resolve conflicts across workstreams.
• Coordinate outsourced CRO and CDMO workstreams, integrating timelines and tracking deliverables.
• Develop scenario plans and recommendations for resource allocation, contingency planning, bottlenecks, and changes in scope.

Requirements

• MS, PhD, or equivalent advanced degree in life sciences or a related field strongly preferred.
• At least 6 years of industry experience, including hands-on biologics or drug discovery research and project or timeline management responsibilities.
• Experience supporting biologics discovery through target validation, hit discovery, and lead optimization; exposure to lead selection governance or IND-enabling workstreams is valuable.
• Strong understanding of biologics discovery processes, analytical planning, organization, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management.
• Experience with project tracking tools such as Smartsheet, Confluence, or Google Workspace.
• Working familiarity with PMI or similar project and program management principles; PMP, CAPM, or PMI-ACP certification is a plus.

• Familiarity with downstream nonclinical, CMC, and regulatory activities.
• Experience in a fast-paced startup where processes are still being built.
• Ability to lead without authority and influence diverse cross-functional teams.
• Experience with developability, nonclinical safety, or early CMC workstreams.
