Distinguished Forward Deployed Engineer (AI Security)

Location: Remote; associated locations are Charlotte, North Carolina, United States and Santa Clara, California, United States.

Salary: $248,700.00–$341,250.00 per year, with potential bonus and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Lead architecture reviews for zero-trust, high-availability AI safety topologies.
• Build production-grade integrations in Python, Go, and C++ for enterprise microservices and AI infrastructure.
• Develop high-throughput middleware, proxy extensions, SDK wrappers, and infrastructure-as-code deployment modules.
• Optimize low-latency streaming LLM traffic, intelligent caching, and global load balancing.
• Resolve critical distributed-systems incidents and edge-case failures across LangChain and LlamaIndex environments.
• Upstream plugins, platform optimizations, and core engine enhancements while defining enterprise reference architectures.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software development and distributed-systems architecture experience.
• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in computer science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, or equivalent practical experience.
• Master-level proficiency in Python, Go, or C++, including asynchronous programming and high-concurrency systems.
• Experience with API gateways such as Envoy and Kong, plus gRPC and REST.
• Expert knowledge of LLM orchestration, vector databases, runtime guardrails, and prompt-injection mitigation.
• Advanced experience with containers, Kubernetes operators, service meshes, infrastructure as code, enterprise security protocols, data loss prevention, and network segmentation.

Nice to have

• Experience securing autonomous AI agents and tool-use execution environments.
• Contributions to open-source AI security tools, red-team research, or LLM vulnerability benchmarks.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or Datadog observability infrastructure.
• Experience with synthetic data generation, ML-driven data sanitization, and offline evaluation sandboxes.
