Security Engineer - Platform & Shared Services

Location: Remote (United States)

Base salary: $120,000–$185,000 per year for US-based team members, plus annual bonus potential, equity participation, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and implement security controls across firewalls, IAM, endpoint detection and response, and secrets management in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
• Build security automation and tooling with Python, Go, and Bash, while managing security baselines as infrastructure code with Terraform.
• Manage vulnerability and threat response by triaging scanner findings, investigating root causes, and driving remediation.
• Review code and architecture, identify security risks early, and partner with engineering teams on secure solutions.
• Embed SAST, DAST, and dependency scanning into CI/CD pipelines and create secure-by-default templates, libraries, and workflows.
• Respond to security incidents, perform forensic analysis, and maintain tested runbooks for critical events.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in systems administration, DevOps, network engineering, software development, or security-related work.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and infrastructure as code using Terraform.
• Ability to write automation in Python, Go, or Bash.
• Working knowledge of IAM, PKI, cryptography fundamentals, network protocol analysis, and threat modeling.
• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes and the ability to communicate technical security risks to non-security audiences.

Nice to have

• Offensive security experience in penetration testing, red teaming, bug bounty programs, or reverse engineering.
• Experience with Falco, eBPF, zero trust architecture, network isolation, custom SAST or DAST rules, SBOM, or supply chain security.
• Expertise in HSMs, YubiKeys, FIDO2, applied cryptography, Okta, or Azure AD integrations.
• Experience with security training, threat modeling workshops, CTF events, conference talks, or open-source security projects.
• Background in production engineering, SRE, software engineering, startups, open-source, AI, or data science.
