Project Scientist I (Environmental)

Location: Office-based in Orlando, Florida, USA; travel is required, primarily within Florida and the Southeast.

Annual salary: $80,000–$100,000, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

What you will do

• Design and implement sampling plans for small- to large-scale environmental field investigations with project managers.
• Lead field efforts and guide junior staff on data collection, documentation, and environmental cleanup protocols.
• Analyze analytical data, identify data gaps, recommend investigative changes, and contribute to Conceptual Site Models.
• Procure and coordinate subcontractors for geophysical surveys, drilling investigations, and remedial measures.
• Prepare reports, tables, maps, drawings, and visual aids for project recommendations and regulatory approval.
• Conduct ASTM-compliant Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and coordinate emergency spill responses.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related scientific field.
• 7+ years of experience conducting environmental investigations and leading field efforts.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
• Valid driver’s license, ability to travel, and ability to obtain security clearance at federal installations.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills and knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or comparable computer-aided software.
• Ability to work in physically demanding conditions and varying terrain and weather.
