Senior BI Engineer (FinTech)

What you will do

• Lead the BI team day to day, translating strategy into an executable delivery plan and mentoring BI Engineers through design reviews, pairing, and code reviews.
• Own the data warehouse, including dimensional modelling, loading pipelines, consistency standards, and data quality controls.
• Own the data sync between Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations and the wider data estate.
• Build and maintain reconciliations that validate data completeness and accuracy, investigating root causes when feeds fail.
• Design data pipelines and reporting solutions using Python, PySpark, Delta Lake, T-SQL, Power BI, and DAX.
• Work with Finance, Tech, Commercial, Buying, Product, Architecture, Security, and Risk stakeholders to deliver governed and reliable data products.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Python, SQL, PySpark, and Delta Lake for scalable data pipelines.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Azure Storage, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Strong T-SQL skills and experience with Kimball dimensional modelling and data warehouse design.
• Experience integrating ERP data, ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations or another major ERP platform.
• Working knowledge of Power BI, DAX, and data modelling for business reporting.
• Experience mentoring engineers, setting technical standards, prioritising competing requests, and managing stakeholder expectations.

Nice to have

• Experience with lakehouse or data warehouse migrations and platform decisions such as moving from Databricks to Microsoft Fabric.
• Knowledge of finance, supply chain, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, month-end close, stock, or warehouse operations.
• Experience in retail, ecommerce, or fashion reporting for buying, merchandising, or trading.
• Experience with CI/CD for data, testing frameworks, data observability, governance, or cataloguing tools.
